Emergency First Responders are the backbone of any community during a crisis situation. Portageville relies heavily on the brave men & women of the fire, police, medical, communications and emergency management professionals during a disaster.

Our Community Emergency Response Team prepares individuals to assist families & others throughout our area in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, light & search rescue, disaster psychology & terrorism. The Portageville Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is comprised entirely of volunteers dedicated to securing neighborhood disaster situations until the First Responders arrive, thereby reducing the loss of lives and property.

Vince Berry, Director, assisted by Jackie Sproat , Assistant Director & Training Officer, has provided instruction for 52 participants since the program’s inception in 2003.
